open revealing a worn and cracked effect. Works best with a dark undercoat and
a slightly lighter top coat. Water based.

Finishing Oil
Two-part acrylic system. Coat surface first with Base then coat with Top.
Gives very fine cracking over the surface which can be brought out using dark acrylic paint wash.

French Polishes
French polish is used to seal the wood. Many framers use it to protect and antique imitation gold leaf finishes.
The VIEILLIR is a slightly tinted oil based varnish, which gives an ageing effect when applied. CRAQUELER is water based.
When applied as instructed, they react together
as they dry, opening up a crackled surface. It
can be applied over almost any rigid painted or hard surface. To show up the cracks, wipe over with paint of any brownish colour, thinned. When completely dry, coat with suitable varnish to protect the surface.
• BUTTON gives an orange or golden tone
• FRENCH (the most used) a light to medium
brown tone.
• WHITE an almost clear tone, for light woods.

Burnishing Cream
A very mild abrasive cream. For reviving highly polished surfaces, and taking the ‘new’ shine off paint and varnish. 250ml tin.

Gives a natural low-lustre finish to all woods. Based on tung oil - just brush or wipe it on. Any surplus can be wiped off after a few minutes. New wood requires 2-3 coats. It penetrates the wood, to give a hard durable finish, without leaving a thick film. It can
be overcoatedwith any oil based paint or varnish later, if desired.
