Paste wax is a blend of beeswax, carnauba and hard waxes. It gives a repeatable finish on natural wood mouldings. Smooth moulding with fine wire wool or plastic abrasive pad. Colour with water or spirit stain. Seal the surface with sanding sealer, p.101.
Smooth again and then apply the wax, rubbing along the grain, with a pad of 0000 wire wool. You can apply wax on an unsealed surface, but the finish may sink with time.
CLASSIC Paste Wax
Polish
A unique blend of waxes formulated in the British Museum. The curators choice of wax for protecting gilding, coins, knives, wood, jewellery, antiquities and fine antique furniture. pH neutral.

When rubbed into the surface of an open textured wood, white flecks fill the pores of the wood.
This creates an interesting ‘limed’ or ‘patinated’ look, which is very effective on many mouldings, especially ash, ramin and obeche. Exaggerate the effect by opening the grain with a bronze wire brush carefully before applying the wax.
Use Classic or Black Bison Wax (Neutral) to remove surplus and to give a shine.
Special wax for enhancing pine and solid wood furniture. Gives a natural look. Traditional recipe.

It is flexible, enabling it to be removed from undercuts. Use equal quantities by volume, and add mould making powder to water and mix to stiff paste. Aim for a lump, like dough, which you press onto the part from which you wish to make a mould. Sets within minutes.
