Permacoll Size
Acrylic based gilding size, easy to use with imitation leaf.
Works on most smooth non- porous interior surfaces. Coat porous surfaces with Kolner Sealer. Permacoll Size should be applied with a soft brush. Dries quite quickly to a uniform sheen. Use 1 hour to two days later.
Thicker leaf will give a higher gloss. All metal leaf should be protected with acrylic lacquer.

Weather resistant size for gilding inside and outside with real gold transfer leaf.
Two-part acrylic ‘oil’ size system which cannot be burnished, but gives a natural high gloss. Seal porous surfaces with a diluted

coat of Instacoll. Allow prepared
surface to dry for about one hour.
Like water gilding, it is activated with Instacoll Activator immediately prior to laying on the transfer real gold leaf.

Miniatum Size
Elastic size for real leaf gilding on flexible surfaces such as paper and leather. Seal absorbent surfaces. Apply Miniatum as inks with a pen, Ω hr to dry, or with a brush, 3 hours. Best results when the size forms a slight bead on the surface. Open time of 20 hours.

Colnasol Gel Size
One gel tablet makes up to 500cc of gilding liquor by dissolving in warm water. Can be cut for smaller quantities. Apply immediately prior to laying on the leaf. The leaf ‘sucks’ down. When dry, the leaf can be burnished 24 hours later. (Keep tablets sealed in tub).

Gold Leaf
Real Gold Leaf 23.5ct
Real 23.5ct gold leaf, loose. In sheets, approx. 80 x 80mm, in books of 25. Lift ‘loose’ from gilders cushion with a gilders tip. This requires practice and skill.
Real gold leaf, transfer. This is pressed onto bleached acid-free paper, without wax, which allows you to handle it more easily and apply it straight to an oil sized surface.
Real gold leaf, double thick. This is a little easier to handle.

Metal Gold & Silver Leaf

long. These are ideal for decorating mouldings and mount bevels. Cheaper and much easier to handle than real gold leaf. Will tarnish if not protected with acrylic varnish, wax or shellac.
