Used for lining an oil painting on canvas with
a new backing canvas. Also can be used for patching. Gently melt Lining Compound in an electric fryer at 94oC. Its qualities are destroyed by overheating. A 1kg/2lb quantity in the pan helps give temperature stability. Apply melted mixture on back of canvas and use a standard iron (max
of 135oC, min. 66oC) to cause the wax-resin to penetrate into the canvas to create bonding.
Use Lining Compound Remover, 4560, to remove excess Lining Compound.
Framers are often called upon to clean the dust and grime of ages from old oil paintings.
This is a safe, non-acid, non- foaming cleaner for almost every type of fine art surface. It is uniquely soluble in dilution with water or white spirit. Acclaimed by restorers
of oil paintings around the world. Holds dirt and grease in a stable suspension which is not re-deposited on cleaned areas.
