‘tear lines’. Use these to form deckle-edged Japanese hinges. The ‘tear lines’ are arranged at various spacings, from 6mm to 23mm wide. Sheets are 597 x 432mm / 23.5”x17”. Choose 12gm2 for photos and light artwork, or 20gm2 for heavier papers. Fix with wheat or rice starch paste. Also methyl cellulose, see p.112.
Four sheets per pack. Anything you hinge using these materials will be to Museum standard.

Archival Paper 2 75gm Hinging Tape
- Gummed
White paper tape, of high tensile strength.
Base paper stock has a pHof 6.2 and the special water activated adhesive has
a pH of 7.0.
A 3% calcium
carbonate
buffer is added
to the tape.
To activate, moisten the tape with a sponge dampened with clean water, preferably distilled. This archival tape is ideal for hinging prints to mounts. Reversible with water.

A very thin and extremely transparent pressure sensitive archival mending paper tissue.
It is non-yellowing, removable with solvents and has a neutral pH. To use, tissue, place a length of tissue over the tear and burnish with a bone.

Acid-free 70gsm wood-free white paper tape with
a water activated (pH neutral) starch adhesive. High tensile strength
makes it ideal for hinging heavier art. Moisten with a damp sponge. Reversible with water from stable paper surfaces.
Museum quality. Cotton fibre paper, with 2% calcium carbonate buffer and AKD sized. Naturally lignin free. Gum is farina starch based, to pH range 7.0 - 8.0.
