In certain circumstances, the rust resistant coating can crack, allowing corrosion to set in which can cause the wire to fail.

Every framer fears the news from a customer that the cord broke and the picture fell onto the brand new TV.
Many years ago Lion worked with a UK manufacturer of high specificationpolyestercords to develop this range of high strength picture cords
• Independent scientific tests prove that extension under load of Low-Stretch polyester cord was around 12%. In the same test the extension with nylon was around 26%
• They also tested the breaking strains of each which are very high as shown in the table below
• To allow for ‘shock’ loading, picture weight should be no more than about 25% of the breaking strain.
• Polyester cannot rot, nor will moisture absorbed from the atmosphere change its characteristics
• A special weave makes it easy to tie
• Take care to always pair the cord with hanging
hardware which is more than strong enough.
